Mt Barker Vet Hospital is a very mixed animal practice, with 50% small animals, 20% equine and 30% farm animals. It has been an integral part of the town since 1978 and in the present hands for the past 32 years.
It is an approximately 3.5 FTE Veterinary Hospital, with 14 staff including 6 vets, allowing for a comfortable after-hours roster involving one night on call and one weekend in 5, for most of the year.
There is a weekly clinic run north to Cranbrook and surrounding farms and scheduled calls are incorporated into this run.
The business is well supported by the local community and continues to grow year on year.

Mount Barker is located 369 km southeast of Perth a scenic 3 ¾ hour drive along Albany Highway. It is 51 km north of Albany the closest regional centre.
Mount Barker is steeped in ancient natural beauty and rolling green hills in the heart of a recognised premium wine growing region, between the mountains and the sea. It is close to both the Porongurup Range and Stirling Range and some lovely national parks with awe inspiring walks with so many different scenic backdrops.
The Plantagenet Shire continues to grow and is now attracting an increasing number of small intensive farming and lifestyle blocks. The farming community is thriving. There is increasing interest in pleasure and performance horses.
